Treatment protocol At the end of treatment, flies were anesthetized using CO2 and collected in Trizol.
Growth protocol 30 adult virgin females (and unmated males) Oregon R flies per vial fed respective diet for 14 days at 25C temperature. Media vials changed after 7 days.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions (RNeasy Microarray Tissue Handbook).
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 250 ng total RNA (GeneChip 3’ IVT Express Kit).
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, 10 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 16 hr at 45C on GeneChip Drosophila Genome 2.0 Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 450.
Scan protocol GeneChips were scanned using the Affymetrix GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G.

Data processing The data was analysed using R/Bioconductor affy and limma packages. Quantile Normalization and RMA background correction was used.
