Total RNA was extracted with RNeasy Midi kit (Qiagen, Valencia, CA) from normal lung parenchyma and purified with RNeasy MinElute CleanUP Kit (Qiagen). RNA concentration was determined with a Nanodrop spectrophotometer (NanoDrop, Wilmington, DE) and RNA quality was assessed with an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies Inc., Santa Clara, CA)
