RNA isolation was peformed by Expression Analysis, Inc. (Durham, NC). RNA was purified using the RNeasy Mini Kit (QIAGEN) according to the manufacturer's protocol, including the on-column DNase I digestion. RNA integrity and quantity was measured using an Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100.

RNA labeling was peformed by Expression Analysis, Inc. (Durham, NC). Total RNA was converted cDNA and in vitro transcribed to biotin-labeled anti-sense RNA, using the Enzo Single Round RNA Amplification and Biotin Labeling System (Enzo # ENZ-42420-10) according to the manufacturer’s protocol.

RNA hybridization to Affymetrix HG-U133 Plus 2 arrays was performed by Expression Analysis, Inc. (Durham, NC). Standard Affymetrix protocols were used with the Affymetrix FS450 Fluidics Station and the Affymetrix Hybridization, Washing and Staining kits.

Microarray scanning and data extraction was perfomed by Expression Analysis, Inc. (Durham, NC). The Affymetrix GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G was used. GeneChip Command Console (Affymetrix) was used to drive the scanners. Expression Console (Affymetrix) was used to extract data from the scanned images.
