For nutrient deprivation experiments, L. bicolor colonies (grown on cellophane membranes) were started on MMN media for 15 days after which they were transferred to fresh MMN with a 10 times reduction in the quantity of glucose. Samples were harvested after another 10d in liquid nitrogen.
