A combinatorial Interplay Among the ACC Synthase Isoforms Regulates Ethylene Biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana

(Submitter supplied) ACC Synthase (ACS) is the key regulatory enzyme in the ethylene biosynthesis in plants. It catalyzes the conversion of s-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC), the precursor of ethylene. Arabidopsis has nine ACS genes. The goal of the project is to inactivate each gene by insertional mutagenesis and amiRNA technology and eventually construct a null ACS mutant. We have been recently able to achieve this goal. more...

The ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR 6 Acts as a Central Regulator of Leaf Growth under Water-Limiting Conditions in Arabidopsis thaliana

(Submitter supplied) Leaf growth is a complex developmental process that is continuously fine-tuned by the environment. Various abiotic stresses, including mild drought stress, have been shown to inhibit leaf growth in Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis), but the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here we identify the redundant Arabidopsis transcription factors ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR 5 (ERF5) and ERF6 as master regulators which adapt leaf growth to environmental changes. more...

The Arabidopsis transcription factor TCP5 during petal and inflorescence development

(Submitter supplied) RNA-sequencing performed on petals and inflorescence of Arabidopsis plants. The study provides insight into the role of the TCP5 transcription factor and its molecular mechanism underlying petal growth, using knock-out, overexpression and induction lines on which RNA-sequencing was performed.

Arabidopsis unfertilized pistil development and senescence

(Submitter supplied) Transcription profiling of post-anthesis unfertilized pistil development and senescence in Arabidopsis, in a serie including samples from seven different stages according to pistil age in days post-anthesis (dpa). The time course started at anthesis and ended at 12-14 dpa, several days later of the loss of fruit set capacity. Keywords: Developmental time course

Mitochondrial beta-cyanoalanine synthase is essential for root hair formation in Arabidopsis thaliana

(Submitter supplied) Cyanide is stoichiometrically produced as a co-product of the ethylene biosynthesis pathway, and it is detoxified by the b-cyanoalanine synthase enzyme. The molecular and phenotypical analysis of T-DNA insertional mutants of the mitochondrial b-cyanoalanine synthase CYS-C1 suggests that discrete accumulation of cyanide is not toxic for the plant and does not alter mitochondrial respiration rates, but does act as a strong inhibitor of root hair development. more...

Responses of fully proliferating Arabidopsis leaves to short-term osmotic stress

(Submitter supplied) Drought is an important environmental factor affecting plant growth and biomass production. Despite this importance little is known on the molecular mechanisms regulating plant growth under water limiting conditions. The main goal of this work was to investigate, using a combination of growth and molecular profiling techniques, how stress arrests CELl proliferation in Arabidopsis thaliana leaves upon osmotic stress imposition.

Seedling transcriptomes of Arabidopsis thaliana HULK mutants

(Submitter supplied) We produced RNA-seq reads from messenger RNA isolated from aerial seedling tissue for Arabidopsis thaliana mutants in the HULK gene family. The read data were generated with biological replication (two replicates). The resulting RNA-seq data provide a resource to assess the function of HULK genes in the control of downstream gene expression in A. thaliana.

Transcriptome sequencing of the developing internode and ligular region of maize mutant Sdw3

(Submitter supplied) The reduced plant height and enlarged leaf angle of Sdw3 are mainly attributed to a reduction in longitudinal cell elongation in the internode and an increase in the auricle. To investigate the transcriptome changes during internode and auricle development in Sdw3 versus N18, we performed RNA sequencing analysis.
