GdpS contributes to Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formation by regulation of eDNA release

(Submitter supplied) In Staphylococcus aureus, the role of the GGDEF domain containing protein GdpS remains poorly understood. Previous studies reported that gdpS mutant strains had decreased biofilm formation due to changes in icaADBC expression that were independent of cyclic-di-GMP levels. We deleted gdpS in three unrelated S. aureus isolates, and analyzed the resultant mutants for alterations in biofilm formation, metabolism and transcription. more...

Microarray studies of pqqE disruption mutant vs wild type

(Submitter supplied) This bacterial genome encodes pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) synthase enzyme required for the synthesis of PQQ in bacteria. The gene pqqE encoding PQQ synthase was annotated in Deinococcus radiodurans R1 genome and synthesis of PQQ was shown in this bacterium. PQQ roles as an antioxidant and as an inducer of protein kinase in bacterial system was shown. The pqqE disuption mutant showed several folds decrease in gamma radiation tolerance of wild type cells and strong impairment of DSB repair. more...

Microarray studies of dr2518 knockout mutant vs wild type

(Submitter supplied) Bacterial cells lacking pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) were sensitive to gamma radiation as compared to wild type cells. Deinococcus radiodurans genome encode for five putative PQQ binding STK domain-containing proteins. The comparison of gamma radiation response of all five-deletion mutants with wild type suggested that dr2518 mutant was hypersensitive to gamma radiation as compared to wild type and other mutants. more...

Transcriptome Comparison of phoU Homologies: Genes Deletion strain and the Parent Strain in stationary phase (10 h)

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: To compare the transcriptome changes in phoU1(serp0956) or phoU2(serp0316)deletion strain with the parent strain SE1457 in stationary phase (10 h). Methods: Total RNA was isolated and sequenced from the phoU1 deletion strain, phoU2 deletion strain and the parent strain SE1457 in stationary phase (10 h) in triplicate using an illumina high-seq 2500. Raw data was analyzed using TopHat. Genes were considered changed which performed fold-change>=1.5 and FDR<=0.05. more...
