Base calling, data filtering and index sorting was performed by the CASAVA Pipeline version 1.8.0 The basic statistics including the sequence quality, quality score, sequence content and GC content were analysed using FASTQC programm Adapters and PCR primers were trimmed using cutadapt software Mapper.pl script of miRDeep 2 was used to allign the read sequence to the bovine reference genome Detection and quantification of miRNAs were perfomed using miRDeep software Genome_build: Bos_taurus_UMD_3.1 Supplementary_files_format_and_content: miRNAs with their read counts
