Mice were maintained on a 12-h light-dark cycle with free access to water and 58% high fat diet (HFD) (Research Diets, D12331) for 24 weeks. All mice were fasted for 4 hours at the start of the light phase before being sacrificed by cervical dislocation for organ withdrawal.

Data analysis was performed with the Transcriptome Analysis Console software (version 4.0.2.5) with the analysis type 'Expression (Gene)'. As summarization method 'RMA+DABG (Mouse Only)' was used for signal normalization. A probe set was considered expressed if at least 50% of the detection above background (DABG) values were below the DABG threshold.
